AVOIDANCE INCREASES FEELING POWERLESSNESS

Each time you avoid situations and people due to feeling anxious your brain processes that avoidance worked however what this does is keep you feeling powerless and increases rather than decreases your anxiety. You can begin rewiring your brain by stepping out of your comfort zones that have left you believing and feeling powerless. It would be beneficial to you to start to move forward in small increments in the areas where you now feel powerless. As you begin to slowly expose yourself and to no longer avoid those areas that cause you to feel anxious then instead of remaining stuck in a unhealthy holding pattern of avoidance and powerlessness you will be starting to develop a healthier one. As you courageously begin to no longer make peace with powerlessness by fueling your anxiety by avoiding people, places and things you will notice the chains of feeling powerless beginning to break and fall!

LEARNING TO SET HEALTHY LIMITS AND BOUNDARIES

No one has the right to enter your physical or emotional space without your permission. You may have been raised in a family where your boundaries were consistently invaded and you never learned how to set healthy limits and boundaries. You now may be dealing with the effects of this and believe that setting boundaries and limits will “hurt “ others and are not aware without healthy boundaries and limits the foundation being built is one that fosters codependent unhealthy connections. Empathy without boundaries is emeshment. Not setting healthy limits and boundaries is fertile soil for anxiety and feeling powerless. It is also fertile ground for toxic relationships. LEARNING HOW TO STRETCH PAST YOUR COMFORT ZONES

Just as when we stretch our bodies we can feel discomfort even though we are doing something beneficial for ourselves. Stretching past your anxiety and feelings of depression and powerlessness will feel .unfamiliar and uncomfortable in the beginning but as you go on there will be benefits. There is no growth without change although there can be change without growth. This is where therapy can be so useful and will also be a space where you learn to stretch past your comfort zones and ultimately change and grow i places that you now have made peace with powerlessness.
